    We use the write-up at our dealership TO GET committments. We DO NOT ask for the today committment out on the lot! We use the write up to determine whether it even makes sense to start the negotiations. If the customer won't commit, then we don't get into discounts.

    I have found that it's mucheasier to overcome the objections to doing business now in my office than outside.
