When discussing trade-in value, the customer frequently acts offended and says "XXX across town already offered me (unrealistic amount) more than that!" or "If I can't get (unrealistic amount) for my car, there's no deal." Any suggestions would be appreciated. Joe Boyer

try this...........
we've looked at your car and determined that in its current condition its worth 3800. I know you guys said you were looking for 7000. I can understand why you feel its worth 7000, however it needs brakes, winshield, lefthanded smokeshifter, etc.....
add up the repairs, tax advantage, advertising costs, etc....you've got yourself a deal
