When discussing trade-in value, the customer frequently acts offended and says "XXX across town already offered me (unrealistic amount) more than that!" or "If I can't get (unrealistic amount) for my car, there's no deal." Any suggestions would be appreciated. Joe Boyer

What I do sometimes is suggest that they buy our car now with the car allowance we are offering as a pick up payment and we'll give them 10 days to sell their trade themselves. This way if they get the higher dollar amount they can replace their trade with the cash down. At the least they'd get what we offered and at the best they'd increase their down payment or pocket the difference.
